The LM3940 is a 1A low dropout regulator designed to provide 3.3V from a 5V supply.

The LM3940 is ideal for systems that contain both 5V and 3.3V logic with the power supply from the 5V bus.

Since the LM3940 is a true low dropout regulator, it can be stored at regulated 3.3V outputs with input voltages as low as 4.5V.

The LM3940 T0-220 package means that in most applications, full 1A load current can be delivered without the use of additional heatsinks.

The surface mount TO-263 package uses minimal board space and gives excellent power dissipation capability on the copper side soldered onto the printed circuit board.
