The LM3940 is a 1A low-dropout regulator design that provides a 3.3V supply from 5V.

The LM3940 is ideal for systems that contain both 5V and 3.3V logic with a prime force from a 5V bus.

Since the LM3940 is a true dropout regulator, it can be stored in a regulated 3.3V output with an input voltage as low as 4.5V.

The LM3940 T0 - 220 package means that a full 1A load current can be delivered without the use of additional heat sinks in most applications.

The surface mount TO-263 package uses minimal board space and gives excellent power dissipation on the copper side soldered to the printed circuit board.
