Ideal for space-critical applications, the LM4051's high-precision voltage reference is available in an ultra-small (3 mm × 1.3 mm) SOT-23 surface mount package. The LM4051's advanced design eliminates the need for external stabilizing capacitors while ensuring stability of any capacitive loads, making the LM4051 easy to use. Further reducing the design effort is the availability of a fixed (1.225V) and adjustable reverse breakdown voltage. The minimum operating currents are LM4051 - 1.2 and LM4051 - ADJ of 60μA. Both versions have a maximum operating current of 12 mA.

The LM4051 comes in three grades (A, B and C). The best (a) have an initial accuracy of 0.1% for high-grade equipment, while Class B has 0.2% and 0.5% for Class C, with a temperature coefficient of 50 ppm/° for comets guaranteed from -40°C to 125°C.

The LM4051 uses a fuse in the wafer and fine-tuning of the Zener ZAP reference voltage to ensure that the main components have an accuracy better than ± 0.1% (A grade) at 25°C.
