The LM4132's high-precision voltage reference series performs the best laser fine-tuning bipolar references comparable in cost-effective CMOS technology. The key to this breakthrough is the use of EEPROM registers for curvature, temperature coefficient, and accuracy correction of the CMOS bandgap structure, enabling package-level programming to match the steering in grams. The voltage accuracy and temperature coefficient of plastic packaging mold assembly limit the accuracy of laser technology references.

Unlike other LDO references, the LM4132 is capable of delivering up to 20mA without the need for output capacitors or buffer amplifiers. These advantages, with SOT23 packaging, are important for space-critical applications.

Series voltage references provide lower power consumption than parallel references because they do not have the maximum possible load current under idle no-load conditions. With such benefits, the LM4132 is ideal as a battery-powered solution with low quiescent current (60μA) and low dropout (400mV).

The LM4132 is available in five grades (A, B, C, D, and E) for greater flexibility. The best grade device (1) has an initial accuracy of 0.05% and is guaranteed to have a temperature coefficient of 10ppm/°C or less, while the lowest grade part (V) has an initial accuracy of 0.5% and a temperature coefficient of 30ppm/°C.
