The LM431 is a three-terminal adjustable parallel regulator that operates over the entire temperature range to ensure temperature stability. At any level greater than 2.5V (V REF), the output voltage can be set simply by selecting two external resistors as the voltage division network up to 36V. Due to its sharp features, this device is an excellent alternative to many Zener diode applications.
