The LM48520 integrates a high-efficiency Class-D stereo audio power amplifier that provides a 5.0V (PV1) boost converter for boost voltage supplies from 2.7V to 5.0V when operating at continuous power to 8Ω speakers up to 1W/ch. The LM48520 uses proprietary spread spectrum pulse width modulation technology to reduce the level of RF interference and electromagnetic interference. Class D amplifiers are low-noise, filtered PWM architectures that eliminate output filters, reduce the number of external components, board area, power consumption, system cost, and simplify design.

LM48520 is designed for use in mobile phones and other portable communication devices. High (78%) efficiency extends battery life compared to boost Class AB amplifiers. The LM48520 has a low power consumption shutdown mode. Shutdown can enable the drive shutdown pin to Logical Low (GND). In addition, control by reducing external leakage through the ground reference of the SW-OUT pin.

The LM48520 has 4 gain options that are selected by Gain0 and Gain 1 pins. The output short circuit prevents damage to the device under fault conditions. Superior click and pop suppression eliminates power-up and shutdown sound transients.
