The LM48824 is a Class G, ground-referenced stereo headphone amplifier designed for portable devices. The LM48824 features a state-of-the-ground reference architecture, which eliminates the capacitors required for large DC-blocking conventional headphone amplifiers, saves board space, and minimizes system cost.

The LM48824 requires a Class G patent application in the country to provide power savings, advantages over traditional Class AB headphone amplifier architectures. In addition, output noise, improved common-mode detection, correction of any divergence between amplifier ground, and potential headphone return termination reduces noise caused by any reason mismatch.

The high output impedance mode allows the output of the LM48824 to be driven by an external source without signal degradation. Other features include flexible power requirements, differential inputs with improved noise suppression, a low-power (2.5μA) shutdown mode, and 32-step me 2 C's volume control mute function.

The LM48824's superior click suppression eliminates power-up/down and shutdown when transient noises are heard. LM48824 is available in an ultra-small 16 solder ball, 0.4mm pitch micro SMD package (1.69mm x 1.69mm)
