The steps required for the LM5009 function of this switching regulator to implement all the functions of a low-cost, high-efficiency, buck bias regulator. This device is capable of driving a 150 mA load current from 9.5V to 95V input sources. Its switching frequency can exceed 600 kHz, depending on the input and output voltage. The output voltage can be set from 2.5V to 85V. This high voltage regulator contains an N-channel buck switching regulator and internal start-up. The device is easy to implement and is available in MSOP-8 and thermally enhanced LLP-8 packages. The LM5009 is a well-suited alternative to high voltage monolithic solutions where discrete linear power loss becomes unacceptable. The operation of this regulator is based on the control using the ON time inversely proportional VIN plan. This feature allows operating frequency to keep relative overload and input voltage constantly changing. No control loop compensation scheme is required, resulting in an ultra-fast transient response. A smart current limit is the time to implement a forced shutdown, which is inversely proportional to VOUT. This scheme ensures short-circuit protection while providing minimal foldback. Other features include thermal shutdown, VCC undervoltage lockout, gate drive undervoltage lockout, and maximum duty cycle limit.
