This device is capable of driving a 150 mA load current from 9.5V to a 95V input source. Its switching frequency can exceed 600 kHz, depending on the input and output voltages. The output voltage can be set from 2.5V to 85V. This high voltage regulator contains an N-channel buck switch regulator and internal start-up. The device is easy to implement and is available in MSOP-8 and thermally enhanced LLP-8 packages. The LM5009 is a great alternative to high-voltage monolithic solutions, where discrete linear power losses become unacceptable. The operation of this regulator is based on controlling the use of the ON time inversely proportional to the VIN plan. This feature allows for the frequency of operation to maintain constant changes in relative overload and input voltage. No need to control loop compensation schemes in an ultra-fast transient response result. A clever current limit is the time to implement a forced shutdown, which is inversely proportional to VOUT. This scheme ensures short-circuit protection while providing minimal turnback.
