The LM5020 high voltage pulse width modulation (PWM) controller includes all the features required to implement a single-ended main power converter topology. Output voltage regulation is based on current mode control, simplifying loop compensation design while providing inherent feed-forward from the line. The LM5020 includes a high voltage start-up regulator that operates over a wide input voltage range up to 100V. The PWM controller is designed for high speed capability, including an oscillator with a frequency range of 1MHz and a total propagation delay of less than 100ns. Other features include an error amplifier, high-precision reference, line undervoltage lockout, cycle-by-cycle current limit, ramp compensation, soft-start, oscillator synchronization capability, and thermal shutdown. The controller is available in MSOP-10 and LLP-10 packages.
