The LM5115 is a versatile switching regulator controller. It has two main application configurations. The first is to use the postal regulation (SSPR) technology on the secondary side to realize multiple output power converters. In the second configuration, it can be used as a stand-alone synchronous buck controller (see page 14 for more details). SSPR technology develops an efficient and well-regulated auxiliary output of a switch from the secondary side to isolate the waveform of the power converter. The auxiliary output voltage is regulated by pulse width modulation (PWM) of the leading main channel duty cycle. Front-edge modulation is compatible with either the current mode or voltage mode control of the main output. The NMOS power switches on the external high and low sides of the LM5115 driver are configured as synchronous buck regulators. The current-sense amplifier provides overload protection and has a wide common-mode input range. Other features include a low-dropout (LDO) regulator bias regulator, error amplifier, high-precision reference, gate signal for adaptive dead time control, and thermal shutdown.
