The LM5116WG is a synchronous buck controller that ranges from a wide range of applications or input sources to high voltage buck regulators. The control method is based on the current mode, using an analog current ramp control. Current-mode control provides line-intrinsic feed-forward, cyclic cycle current limiting, and simplified loop compensation. The sensitivity of the pulse-width modulation circuit using the analog control ramp to reduce noise allows for very small duty cycles necessary for reliable control in high input voltage applications. Programmable operating frequency from 50 kHz to 1 MHz. The LM5116WG driver adapts dead time to control external high-side and low-side NMOS power switches. User-selectable diode emulation modes allow intermittent operation at light loads to improve efficiency. Low quiescent current shutdown disables the controller and the total input current consumption is less than 10 microamps. Other features include a high voltage bias regulator with automatic switching for improved efficiency, frequency synchronization, cycle-cycle current limit and adjustable line undervoltage lockout, external bias. The device is available in a CERPACK-20 high temperature ceramic package with a thermal shutdown feature.
