The LM73 is an integrated, digital output temperature sensor with a two-wire interface compatible with SMBus and Me Incremental Δ-ΣADC 2 C ® interface. The host can query and read the temperature LM73 at any time. Available in a 6-pin SOT-23 package, the LM73 occupies a very small board area while operating over a wide temperature range (-40°C to 150°C) and offers ± 1.0°C accuracy from -10°C to 80°C. Users can optimize the changeover time between and the LM73 by programming it to report sensitivity at any temperature at four different resolutions. When default in 11-bit mode (0.25°C/LSB), the LM73 measures a maximum temperature of 14 milliseconds, making it suitable for fast charging after ideal temperature data is required. At its maximum resolution, 14-bit mode (0.03125°C/LSB), the LM73 is optimized for very small changes in temperature.

A multi-level address line selects one of three unique device addresses. The open-drain ^ ALERT output becomes effective when the temperature exceeds the programmable limit. Both data and clock cables provide excellent noise tolerance and reliable communication for filtering. In addition, the clock and data line timeout functions allow the LM73 to automatically reset these lines as long as one of them is held for a low time, eliminating any bus lockout without processor intervention.
