The LM79MXX three-terminal regulator series offers fixed output voltages of -5V, -12V, and -15V. These devices require only one external component to output a compensation capacitor. The LM79MXX series is packaged in a TO-220 power package and is capable of delivering 0.5A of output current.
These regulators feature internal current limiting, safe zone protection, and thermal shutdown protection against virtually all overload conditions.
The low ground pin current of the LM79MXX series makes it easy to drive the output voltage to a preset value of one of the resistor dividers above. The low quiescent current of these devices with a specified maximum line and load variation ensures good regulation in boost voltage mode.
-5V, -12V, -15V output voltages offer an output voltage range from 1.2V to -57V than other LM137 series.
