The LM94 hardware monitor has a two-wire digital interface that is compatible with SMBus 2.0. The LM94 measures four remote diode connected transistors using ΣΔADC and their own death and 16 supply voltage temperatures. The LM94 has the new TruTherm technology, which supports high-precision thermal diode measurements for processors with sub-micron processes.

To set the fan speed, the LM94 has PWM outputs up to two per 6 temperature control zones. Fan control algorithms can be based on lookup tables, PI (proportional/integral) control loops, or a combination of both. The LM94 includes a digital filter that can be called to smoothly conduct better fan speeds, make acoustic noise minimum control temperature readings, and read. The LM94 has four speed inputs to measure fan speed. All measurement limits and status registers are also included.

After the previous motherboard server management function was based on the LM94 application-specific integrated circuit, such as the LM93. It also adds dynamic monitoring support for measurement and control, VRD10/11 VCCP and ^ PROCHOT. It is designed to monitor the smallest dual-processor Xeon-class motherboard with external components.
