LM95241 is an accurate dual remote diode temperature sensor (rapid diagnostic detection method) using National Semiconductor's TruTherm technology. The 2-wire serial interface is LM95241 compatible with SMBus 2.0. LM95241 can sense three temperature zones, which can measure the temperature of its own die and the transistor connected by two diodes. LM95241 includes digital filtering and an advanced input stage that includes analog filtering and TruTherm technology to reduce processor-to-processor propagation. Diode-connected transistors can be found in Intel and AMD processors with a "thermal diode" or can simply be connected to MMBT3904 transistor diodes. TruTherm technology can accurately measure "thermal diodes" found in geometries as small as 90nm and 65nm. LM95241 support for user-selectable thermal diodes is not ideal, whether in Intel 90nm or 65nm processes or 2N3904 processors.
LM95241 remote temperature readout resolution format can be programmed as an 11-bit signed or unsigned digital filtering function. When the resolution of the filtering function is increased to 13 bits, signed or unsigned. In symbol mode, LM95241 remote diode readings can resolve temperatures above 127°C. The local temperature readings have a 9-digit plus resolution.
