At LMH™ 6526/6525 is a combination DVD/CD burning and rewritable system using laser diode drivers. The device contains two laser high-current outputs for reading and writing DVDs (650 nm) and CDs (780 nm). Functions include read, write, and erase through four independent switching current channels. Channel current summarization at selected outputs together generates multiple waveforms of read, write, and erase discs. The LVDS interface's 16x speed to write DVDs provides higher speeds while minimizing noise and crosstalk. The LMH6525/6526 is optimized for speed and power consumption to meet the needs of next-generation systems. The device has a 150 mA read channel plus one 300 mA and two 150 mA write channels, which can be generalized to give a total output of 600 mA or more. The channel current is all input through four independent currents.

The on-board high-frequency modulation (HFM) oscillator helps reduce low-frequency noise of the laser and is enabled by the application for the LMH6525 ENOSC pin LVDS level, while the LMH6526 is applied to the ENOSC pin asymmetric signal activation. The fully differential oscillation circuit minimizes noise in the power supply line and moderates FCC approval of the entire system. LAC / Pin B (High Active) selects the settings of the output channel and oscillator. The external resistor determines the frequency and amplitude of each set oscillator. The write and erase channels can be turned on and off via dedicated LVDS interface pins.
