LMH6514 is a high-performance, digitally controlled variable gain amplifier (DVGA). It combines a low-noise precision, ultra-linear differential amplifier gain control. Typically, LMH6514 a high-performance ADC driver in a wide range of mixed-signal and digital communication applications, such as mobile radio and cellular base stations, requires increasing the system's dynamic range automatic gain control (AGC). When used with high-speed ADCs, the dynamic range of the system can be extended to 42 dB.
LMH6514 have differential inputs and outputs that allow for large signal swing from a single 5V supply. It is intended to accept signals from RF components and maintain a terminated impedance environment. The input impedance is 200Ω resistor. The output impedance is either 200Ω or 400Ω, which is user-selectable. Unique internal structure that allows the use of two single-ended and differential input signals.
Scaling the input signal LMH6514 high linearity, digitally controlled attenuators with seven accurate 6 dB steps. The attenuator's output provides a high-gain, superlinear differential transconductance of the input signal. The transconducting differential output current can be converted into a voltage by using an on-chip 200Ω or 400Ω load. The transconductance gain is 0.1 amps/volt when driving a 400Ω load with a maximum voltage gain of +32 dB and a 200Ω load, or 38 dB at start. The gain provided by the digital latch on the chip sets local storage. The gain step has a settling time of 5ns, and careful measures have been taken to reduce the bandwidth and phase sensitivity gain settings.
LMH6514 operates in industrial temperatures ranging from -40°C to +85°C LMH6514 in a 16-pin, thermally enhanced, LLP package.
