The LMV431, LMV431A, and LMV431B 1.24V precision shunt regulators can be adjusted to 30V. The cathode voltage is controlled from the negative cathode feedback adjustment pin, much like a non-inverting op amp configuration (reference symbols and function diagrams). A resistor divider terminates the gain of a 1.24V bandgap reference controlled at the adjustment pin. The cathode short-circuit adjustment pin (voltage follower) provides a cathode voltage of 1.24V.
With initial tolerances of 1.5%, 1% and 0.5% respectively, the LMV431, LMV431A and LMV431B feature several applications that require performance at low voltage Zener diode types. Applications include 3V to 2.7V low-dropout regulators, error amplifiers in 3V off-line switching regulators, and even as a voltage detector. These components are typically greater than 10nF and more than 50pF capacitive load stable.
