illustrate
The LP2950 and LP2951 micropower voltage regulators feature very low quiescent current (75μA typical) and very low dropout voltage (typical difference of less than 40mV at light load and 380mV hundredmA). They are ideal for using battery-powered systems. In addition, the quiescent current LP2950/LP2951 dropout only increases slightly, extending battery life.
The LP2950-5.0 D-PAK package is surface mounted and pin-compatible with older 5V regulators in the popular 3-pin TO-92 package. The 8-lead LP2951 is a plastic, ceramic, double, line, or metal that can be wrapped and provides additional system functionality.
One such feature is an error flag warning of low output voltage, often due to a drop in battery input and output. It can be used for power-on reset. The second feature is logic-compatible shutdown inputs, allowing the regulator to be turned on and off. In addition, the portion may be a 5V, 3V, or 3.3V output (depending on version), or a programming of an external resistor from 1.24V to 29V pin-tight.
All contributions to a well-designed LP2950/LP2951 minimum error budget. This includes tight initial tolerances (0.5% typical). , very good load and row gauge" (0.05% typical. ) and a very low output voltage temperature coefficient, making the part a low-power voltage reference.
