The LP2992, on the other hand, is a 250 mA, fixed output voltage regulator designed to provide low noise in ultra-low dropout and battery-powered applications.
Using optimized VIP (vertically integrated PNP), the LP2992 delivers unmatched performance for battery-powered designs critical to all specifications:
Differential pressure: Typically 450 mV @ 250 mA load, and 5 millivolts @ 1 mA load.
Ground pin current: Typical loads are 1500 μ A@ 250 mA, and 75 μ A@ 1 mA loads.
Enhanced stability: The LP2992 stabilizes the ESR of the output capacitor as low as 5 milliohms, which allows ceramic capacitors to be used on the output.
Sleep Mode: At quiescent current of less than 1μA, the ON/OFF pin is pulled low.
Smallest possible size: The SOT-23 and LLP packages use the absolute minimum board space.
Precision output: A 1% error output voltage is available (Class A).
Low noise: By adding a 10 nF bypass capacitor, the output noise can be reduced to 30 μV (typical).
