The LP2998 linear regulator is designed to meet the JEDEC SSTL-2 and JEDEC SSTL-18 specifications for memory termination of DDR1-SDRAM and DDR-II memory. The device contains a high speed op amp to provide excellent load transient response. The output stage prevents shoot-through while providing a continuous current of 1.5A for DDR1-SDRAM termination and 0.5A for DDR-II termination for continuous current. The LP2998 also uses V_SENSEPin to provide superior load regulation and serves as a chipset and DIMM reference V_REFOutput.

Another feature found on the LP2998 is an aggressive low shutdown (^SD) pin that provides the ability to suspend to memory (STR). When ^SD is pulled low, V_TTOutput tri-state provides a high impedance output, while V_REFStay active. An energy-saving advantage is available in this mode through lower quiescent current.
