The LP2998 linear regulator is designed to meet the JEDEC SSTL-2 and JEDEC SSTL-18 specifications for DDR1-SDRAM and DDR-II memory termination. The device includes a high-speed op-amp to provide excellent load transient response. The output stage prevents pass-through while providing 1.5A of continuous current for DDR1 - SDRAM termination and 0.5A DDR - II termination for continuous current. The LP2998 also features a V SENSE pin that provides superior load regulation and serves as a chipset and DIMM reference V REF output.

Another feature found in the LP2998 is a positive low shutdown (^SD) pin that provides suspend to memory (STR) functionality. When the ^ SD is pulled down, the V TT output tristate provides a high-impedance output, while the V REF remains active. An energy-saving advantage is achieved in this mode through lower quiescent currents.
