LP38842 is a high-current, fast-response regulator that maintains output voltage regulation with minimal input and output voltage drop. Manufactured using the CMOS process, the device is powered from two input voltages: VBIAS provides the gate of the voltage-driven N-MOS power transistor, while Vin is the input voltage, which is the load powered. The use of an external bias rail allows partial operation from ultra-low input voltages. With bipolar regulators, the CMOS architecture consumes very low quiescent current at any output load current. The result of using N-MOS power transistors with wide bandwidth but minimal external capacitance is the need to maintain loop stability.

The fast transient response of these devices makes them suitable for use in DSPs, microcontroller core voltages, and post-regulator regulators of switching power supplies. Partly in TO-220 and TO-263 packages.

Quiescent Current: 30 mA (typical) at full load.

Shutdown Current: 30 NA (typical) when the S/D# pin is low.
