The LMH6517 contains two high performance, digitally controlled variable gain amplifiers (DVGAs). It is designed for narrowband and wideband IF sampling applications. Typically, the LMH6517 is a high-performance ADC driver in a wide range of mixed-signal and digital communications applications such as mobile radios and cellular base station stations that require automatic gain control (AGC) to increase the dynamic range of the system.

Each channel of the LMH6517 has an independent digitally controlled attenuator and a high linearity, differential output amplifier. Each block is optimized for low distortion and maximum system design flexibility. Each channel can be individually disabled to save power.

The LMH6517 digitally controlled attenuator provides an accurate 0.5 dB gain over the 31.5 dB range. The gain settings provided by the on-chip digital latch are stored locally. Serial and parallel programming options are available. A pulse mode that also provides a simple up or down command to change the gain time in one step.

The output amplifier allows differential outputs with large signal swings from a single 5V supply. When driving filters or or analog-to-digital converters, the low impedance output provides maximum flexibility.

The LMH6517 operates in an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The LMH6517 is available in a 32-pin thermally enhanced, LLP package.
