™The LT 1020 is a positive regulation of the combined micropower and free collector comparison on a monolithic chip. With only 40μA supply current, the LT1020 can deliver more than 125 milliamps of output current. The input voltage range from 4.5V to 36V is 0.6V125mA. The voltage difference is reduced and the load current is reduced. Also included on the chip is a Class B output 2.5V reference that can source or draw current. When an output current provided by a dropout detector is represented, the regulator is regulated to drop.

The dual-output comparator can be used for system or battery monitoring comparisons. For example, the comparator can be used to warn of low system voltage and the dropout detector shuts down the system to prevent abnormal operation. Comparisons can be made by frequency-compensated amplifier applications that increase the external output capacitance. Double output or positive and negative regulators are also available.
