The LT1116 is an ultra-high-speed (12ns) comparator designed for sensing signals near a negative power supply. The input common mode ranges from a 2.5V positive supply and below the negative supply rail. Like the LT1016, this is a direct interface with TTL logic specifically designed to complement the output. Comparison may be operated from a single 5V supply or dual ± 5V supply. The tight offset voltage specification and high gain allow the LT1116 to be used in high-precision applications.

LT1116 is designed for increased speed and stable operating conditions in a wide range. The output stage provides the maximum speed of the driver to convert to TTL logic or passive load in both directions, but it has minimal cross-conduction current. Unlike other fast comparators, the LT1116 remains stable even through active regions, eliminating the need to specify a minimum input conversion rate for slow conversion.

The LT1116 features an internal, TTL-compatible latch that remains on output data. The latch holds the latch pin as long as the data is held high. Device parameters such as gain, offset, and negative supply current are not significantly affected by changes in negative supply voltage.
