LT^® A single input pin on the 1158 synchronizes the control of two N-channel power MOSFETs in a totem pole configuration. Unique adaptive protection circuitry for through-current eliminates all matching requirements for the two MOSFETs. This greatly simplifies the design of high-efficiency motor control and switching regulator systems.

A continuous current limit loop in the LT1158 regulates the short-circuit current in the upper power MOSFETs. Higher start-up currents are allowed as long as the MOSFET V_DS No more than 1.2V is sufficient. By makingFAULTThe fault output returns to the enable input, and the LT1158 automatically shuts down on fault and retries when an internal pull-up current completes recharging the enable capacitor.

An on-chip charge pump is plugged in when needed to continuously turn on the upper N-channel MOSFETs. Special circuitry built into the device ensures that the upper gate driver is safely protected during switching between PWM and DC operation. When operating at higher supply voltages, the gate-to-source voltage is internally limited to 14.5V.
