LT®The 1330 is a 3-driver and 5-receiver RS232 transceiver with low supply current. The LT1330 is designed to interface with new 3V logic devices, drawing operating voltage from a 5V supply and a 3V logic supply. The chip can be shut down to micropower operation, where only one receiver is active, to monitor RS232 inputs (e.g., to detect ringing from a modem).
The LT1330 is fully compliant with all EIA RS232 specifications. In addition, the RS232 line input and output pins are safe enough to withstand multiple ±10kV ESD shocks. This eliminates the need to add expensive TransZorb to the line pins used for RS232 devices®(transient voltage suppressor) required.
The LT1330 can operate at up to 120kBaud, even when driving high capacitive loads. During shutdown, the driver and receiver outputs are in a high impedance state, allowing devices to be used in parallel.
