description

® The LT 1620 simplifies the design of high performance when controlling current battery charging circuitry when used with a current mode PWM controller IC. The LT1620 regulates the average output current for independent input and output voltage variations. The output current can be easily programmed by adjusting the PROG pin applied to the LT1620. Current-mode PWM controllers have a limited output voltage range because of the common-mode limitation of the current-sense input. Overcoming this limitation, the LT1620 provides a level-shifted current sense signal with an output voltage range of 0V to 32V. The 16-pin version of the LT1620 includes a programmable low charge current flag output. When this output flag signal can be used, the charging cycle of the lithium-ion battery is nearing the end of its life. The LT1621 uses two completely independent current control circuits for dual loop applications.
