• description

  ®The LT 3070 is a low-voltage, UltraFastTM transient-responsive linear regulator. The device provides up to 5A of output current and a typical dropout voltage of 85mV. A 0.01μF reference bypass capacitor reduces output voltage noise to 25μVRMS. The LT3070's high bandwidth allows for the use of low-ESR ceramic capacitors, eliminating high-capacity capacitors and saving costs. The LT3070 has many features that make it ideal for high-performance FPGAs, microprocessors, or sensitive communications power applications.

  The output voltage can be selected digitally (available in 0.8V to 1.8V in 50mV increments). A margin adjustment feature allows the user to adjust the system output voltage in increments of ±1%, ±3%, or ±5%. The IC has a unique tracking function built into it to control a step-down regulator that is responsible for supplying power to the LT3070 input. This tracking function is used to drive step-down regulators and is designed to minimize power consumption by maintaining the LT3070's input voltage at VOUT + 300mV.

  The device's internal protection features include UVLO, reverse current protection, precise current limiting with power foldback, and thermal shutdown. The LT3070 regulator is available in a thermally enhanced 28-pin, 4mm x 5mm QFN package.
