description

®The LT 3080-1 is a 1.1A low-dropout linear regulator that includes an internal ballast resistor to enable direct paralleling of devices without the need for PC-board trace resistors. Internal ballasted resistors allow multiple devices to be directly connected in parallel on surface-mount circuit boards to provide higher output current and heat dissipation, while making PCB layout simple and easy. This device draws out the collector of the transmission transistor to enable low voltage differential (as low as 350mV) operation (when used with multiple input power supplies). The LT3080-1 can provide a wide output voltage range. A reference current flowing through a single resistor is used to set the output voltage at any level between 0V and 36V. When using a 2.2μF ceramic capacitor at the output, the LT3080-1 achieves stability without requiring additional ESR as is common with other regulators. Internal protection features include current limiting and thermal limiting. The LT3080-1 regulator uses an 8-pin MSOP (with a bare pad to improve thermal characteristics) and a 3mm x 3mm DFN package.
