description

®The LT 3592 is a fixed-frequency step-down DC/DC converter designed to act as a constant current source. An external sense resistor monitors the output current, providing accurate current regulation and is ideal for driving high-current LEDs. An external signal can be used to reduce the output current by a factor of 10 to meet the needs of the night brake light. The high switching frequency allows for the use of small inductors and small ceramic capacitors, thus providing many advantages. The combination of small components and the LT3592's 10-pin DFN leadless surface-mount package saves footprint and cost compared to alternative solutions. The constant switching frequency combined with the low impedance ceramic capacitors creates a low and predictable output ripple. The wide input voltage range of 3.6V to 36V makes the LT3592 suitable for a wide range of applications. The current-mode PWM architecture provides fast transient response and cycle-by-cycle current limiting. The thermal shutdown feature provides additional protection.
