  LT^®The 3592 is a fixed frequency step-down DC/DC converter designed to function as a constant current source. An external sense resistor monitors the output current, providing accurate current regulation, making it ideal for driving high current LEDs. An external signal can be used to reduce the output current by a factor of 10 to meet the needs of night brake lights.
  
  The high switching frequency offers many advantages by allowing the use of small inductors and small ceramic capacitors. The combination of small components and the LT3592's 10-lead DFN leadless surface mount package saves space and cost compared to alternative solutions. The constant switching frequency combined with the low impedance ceramic capacitor results in low and predictable output ripple.
  
  The wide input voltage range of 3.6V to 36V makes the LT3592 a suitable choice for many applications. The current mode PWM architecture provides fast transient response and cycle-by-cycle current limit. The thermal shutdown function provides additional protection.
