Most differential amplifiers require the use of a lot of precise external components to trim the gain and bandwidth. The difference is that with the LT6600-20, the differential gain can be set by two external resistors, and the filter's 20MHz cutoff frequency and passband ripple are set internally. The LT6600-20 also provides the level shift necessary to set its output common-mode voltage to accommodate the A/D's voltage reference. The LT6600-20 features a proprietary internal architecture that integrates an antialiasing filter and a differential amplifier/driver without sacrificing distortion or low-noise performance. Under unity gain conditions, an impressive in-band signal-to-noise ratio of 76dB was measured. At higher gain conditions, the input-induced noise decreases, allowing the device to handle smaller input differential signals without significant degradation of the output signal-to-noise ratio. The LT6600-20 also has the ability to operate under low voltage conditions. The differential design provides exceptional performance for a single 2VP-P signal level, and the device can operate from a single 3V operating supply.
