description

The LTC1096/LTC1098 are micropower, 8-bit A/D converters that draw only 80μA of supply current when converted. They automatically shut down 1NA typical supply current when they do not perform conversions. They are packaged in an 8-pin SO package and operate from a 3V to 9V supply. This 8-bit switched capacitor successive approximation ADC includes sampling and holding. The LTC1096 has a single differential analog input. The LTC1098 provides a software selectable 2-channel MUX. On-chip serial ports allow efficient data transfer with three wires to a wide range of microprocessors and microcontrollers. This, coupled with micropower consumption, makes remote locations possible and facilitates the transmission of data through isolation barriers. These circuits can be used for scaled applications or external references. The high impedance analog input and operation capability with reduced span (below 1V full scale) allows direct connection to sensors and transducers in many applications, eliminating the need for a gain stage. All grades specify offset and a maximum linearity error of 0.5LSB with temperature. Class A devices specify a maximum total unadjustable error of 0.5LSB with temperature.
