description

The LTC1153 electronic circuit breaker drives a low cost N-channel MOSFET, a sensitive event in which power is interrupted for electronic loads under overcurrent conditions. The circuit breaker still tripped over the time of the external timing capacitor and then automatically reset. This cycle continues until removed, protecting sensitive loads and overcurrent conditions of the MOSFET switch. A wide range of trip current, trip delay time, and auto-reset time can be programmed to accommodate a wide range of load impedances. An active high shutdown input is also provided and connected directly to a PTC thermistor thermal break. A microprocessor that provides an open-drain output reports the status of the circuit breaker. The LTC1153 is available in 8-pin DIP and 8-pin SOIC packages.
