description

LTC1153 electronic circuit breaker drives low-cost N-channel MOSFETs, a sensitive event in which the power interrupts of electronic loads under overcurrent conditions. The circuit breaker is still tripped over by the external timing capacitor for a time and then automatically resets. This cycle continues until it is removed, protecting the sensitive load and overcurrent conditions of the MOSFET switch. Trip current, trip delay time, and auto reset time are programmable over a wide range to accommodate a wide range of load impedances. An active, high-shutdown input is also provided and directly connected to the PTC thermistor thermal break. A microprocessor that provides an open-drain output reports the circuit breaker status. The LTC1153 is available in 8-pin DIP and 8-pin SOIC packages.
