The LTC ® 1422 is an 8-pin hot-swap ™ controller that allows boards to be safely inserted and removed from a live backplane. Using an external N-channel transistor, the board's supply voltage can be held at a programmable rate. The high-side switching driver controls the gate of the supply voltage range from 2.7V to 12V in the N-channel.

A programmable electronic circuit breaker prevents shorts. The RESET output can be used to generate a system reset when the supply voltage drops below the programmable voltage. The ON pin can be used to cycle the board's power supply or to generate a soft reset.

The LTC1422 is available in 8-lead PDIP and SO packages.
