description

The LTC ® 1477/LTC1478 protected high-side switches provide very low RDS(ON) and are built-in to protect against short-circuit and thermal overload conditions. An internal charge pump generates a gate drive higher than the supply voltage to fully boost the internal NMOS switch. This switch is passed through the switch, and when it is turned off, the output above the input supply voltage is forced without parasitic body diodes, so no current flows through. (DMOS switches parasitic diodes that become biased in these conditions.) Two levels of protection are provided by the LTC1477/LTC1478. The first level is to limit the short-circuit current to 2A. The short-circuit current reduces the disconnection of parts of low-power devices up to 0.85A (see application information). The second level is protection providing thermal overload protection, which limits the temperature of the mold to about 130 ° C. The LTC1477 is available in an 8-lead SO package. The LTC1478 is available in a 16-lead SO package.
