description
The LTC ® 1629/LTC1629-PG multistage, dual, synchronous step-down current mode switching regulator controller drives an external N-channel power MOSFET in a phase-locked fixed frequency architecture phase. The multiphase ™ controller drives two output stages with phase frequencies up to 300kHz to minimize RMS ripple current from the input and output capacitors. The output clock signal allows the expansion of up to 12 uniformly staged system controllers requiring an output current of 15A 200A. Multi-stage technology, where the effective base frequency is multiplied by the number of channels used, improves transient response while operating efficiency at the optimal frequency for each channel. The thermal design has also been simplified. An internal differential amplifier provides true remote sensing of regulated power supplies with both positive and negative output termination requirements for high current applications. A RUN/SS pin provides both soft-start and selectable timing, short-circuit shutdown. Overcurrent lockout is disabled when current foldback limits the dissipation of the MOSFET during a short-circuit condition. OPTI-LOOP compensation allows transient response to be optimized over a wide range of output capacitance and ESR values. The LTC1629 - PG includes a power good output pin that replaces AMPD's LTC1629 control pin.
