The LTC ® 1629/LTC1629-PG multi-stage, dual-channel, synchronous step-down current-mode switching regulator controller drives an external N-channel power MOSFET in a phase-locked fixed-frequency architecture stage. The multiphase ™ controller has two output stages with a driver phase frequency of up to 300kHz to minimize RMS ripple current for the input and output capacitors. The output clock signal allows for the expansion of up to 12 system controllers that require an output current of 15A to 200A in uniform stages. Multi-stage technology, effective base frequency multiplied by the number of channels used, improves transient response while operating efficiency at optimal frequency per channel. The thermal design has also been simplified. The internal differential amplifier provides true remote sensing of the regulated power supply front and negative output terminals for high current applications required. A RUN/SS pin provides both soft start and optional timing, short circuit stop. Overcurrent latching is disabled when current foldback limits the dissipation of the MOSFET in a short-circuit condition. OPTI - LOOP compensation allows for optimized transient response over a wide range of output capacitance and ESR values. LTC1629 - PG includes a power-good output pin that replaces the AMPMD's LTC1629 control pin.
