LTC ® 1685 is a high-speed, precision-latency RS485 transceiver that can operate at data transfer rates as high as 52Mbps. The device also meets the requirements of RS-422. The unique architecture provides very stable propagation delay and low skew over a wide common mode and ambient temperature range. Driver and receiver tri-state output, disabling the driver to maintain a high impedance output over the entire common-mode range. The Short Circuit function detects the output short circuit and greatly reduces the driver output current. Similar function, it can also protect the receiver output short circuit. Thermal shutdown circuits prevent excessive power loss. The receiver has a fail-safe feature that guarantees a high output state when the input is shorted or dangling. LTC1685's RS485 transceivers guarantee fail-safe operation over the entire common-mode range (7V to 12V). The device is not powered on or disabled when the input resistor will still be >/= 22K. LTC1685 operate from a single 5V supply and consume only 7 milliamps of supply current.
