description

The LTC ® 1736 is a synchronous step-down switching regulator with optimized CPU power delivery. Powered by a 5-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that can adjust the output voltage from 0.925V to 2.00V, the output voltage is programmed according to the Intel Mobile VID specification. The 0.8V reference is compatible with future microprocessors. The operating frequency (synchronized up to 500kHz) is optimized by an external capacitor that allows for maximum flexibility and thus efficiency. The output voltage is monitored by a well-powered window comparator when the output is 7.5% of its programmed value. Protection features include: internal foldback current limit, output overvoltage protection crowbar and optional short-circuit shutdown. Soft start is made up of an external capacitor that can be supplied with the correct sequence. The operating current level is user-programmable by means of an external current sense resistor. The wide input voltage range is from 3.5V to 30V (maximum 36V). Pins eliminate burst mode ™ operation to provide high efficiency at low load currents. OPTI - LOOP compensation allows for optimized transient response over a wide range of output capacitance and ESR values.
