The LTC ® 1778 is a synchronous buck switch regulator controller with optimized CPU power delivery. The controller uses a valley current control architecture to provide excellent transient response without the need for a very low duty cycle of sensing resistors. The operating frequency is selected by an external resistor and compensated for the variation in V.

Continuous mode operation provides high efficiency under light load. The forced continuous control pin reduces noise and RF interference, and helps disable continuous operation, with the main output load being very light and secondary winding regulation.

The fault protection function is limited by internal foldback current, output overvoltage comparator, and an optional short-circuit shutdown timer. Soft start and power sequencing functions are achieved by using an external timing capacitor. It is the current limiting level of the user-programmable voltage regulator. A wide power supply range from 4V to 36V input and operation from 0.8V to (0.9)V output.
