LTC^®The 2942 measures battery state of charge, battery voltage, and die temperature in handheld PC and portable product applications. Its operating range is ideal for single-cell lithium-ion batteries. A precision coulomb meter integrates the current flowing through a sense resistor located between the positive terminal of the battery and the load or charger. The battery voltage and on-chip temperature are accumulated using an internal 14-bit no-latency increment (No Latency ΔΣ^TMADC to measure. The values of the three physical parameters measured (charge, voltage, and temperature) are stored in SMBus/I via board²C interface accesses internal registers.

The LTC2942 has programmable high and low thresholds for all three measured physical quantities. If a programmed threshold is exceeded, the device transmits an alarm signal using the SMBus alarm protocol or by setting a flag in the internal status register.

The LTC2942 requires only a single low value sense resistor to set the measurement current range.
