description

The LTC®3026 is a very low dropout (VLDOTM) linear regulator that operates with input voltages as low as 1.14V. The device is capable of delivering 1.5A output current with a typical dropout voltage of only 100mV. To allow operation at low input voltages, the LTC3026 has a built-in boost converter that is responsible for providing the space necessary for the internal LDO circuitry.

The output current comes directly from the input power supply and is designed to maximize efficiency. The step-up converter requires only a small chip inductor and ceramic capacitor to perform the operation. In addition, a LTC3026 boost output voltage can provide a boost voltage for other LTC3026, so multiple LDOs only need a single inductor. A user-supplied boost voltage can be used, eliminating the need for additional inductors.

LTC3026 regulators are stable with ceramic output capacitors of 10μF or larger. The device has a low reference voltage of 0.4V for setting the output voltage through two external resistors. The device also features internal current limiting, overheat shutdown, and reverse output current protection. LTC3026 is available in a small form factor 10-pin MSOP or a low profile (only 0.75mm high) 10-pin 3mm x 3mm DFN package.
