description

LTC^®The 3026 is a very low dropout (VLDO^TM) linear regulator that operates with input voltages as low as 1.14V. The device is capable of delivering 1.5A of output current with a typical dropout voltage of only 100mV. To allow operation at low input voltages, the LTC3026 contains a boost converter that provides the space necessary for the internal LDO circuitry.

The output current comes directly from the input supply and is designed to maximize efficiency. The boost converter requires only a small chip inductor and ceramic capacitor to operate. In addition, the boost output voltage of one LTC3026 can provide the boost voltage for other LTC3026s, allowing multiple LDOs to require only a single inductor. A user-supplied boost voltage can be used, eliminating the need for an inductor entirely.

The LTC3026 regulator is stable with ceramic output capacitors of 10μF or larger. The device has a low reference voltage of 0.4V to set the output voltage with two external resistors. The device also features internal current limiting, thermal shutdown, and reverse output current protection. The LTC3026 is available in a small outline 10-lead MSOP or a low profile (only 0.75mm height) 10-lead 3mm × 3mm DFN package.
