description

The LTC®3202 is a low-noise, constant-frequency charge pump DC/DC converter that employs fractional conversion to improve efficiency in white LED applications. The device can generate a regulated voltage or current up to 125mA from a 2.7V to 4.5V input. The low number of external components (two jumper capacitors and two small bypass capacitors on VIN and VOUT) makes the LTC3202 ideal for small, battery-powered applications. An internal 2-position DAC enables LED brightness control by adjusting the LED current. LTC3202 also features thermal shutdown protection and is able to safely withstand continuous short-circuit conditions from VOUT to GND. The built-in soft-start circuit is used to prevent excessive inrush current during start-up. The high switching frequency allows for the use of small external capacitors. A low-current shutdown feature disconnects the load from the VIN and reduces quiescent current to less than 1μA. LTC3202 is available in a 10-pin MSOP package and a 3mm x 3mm DFN package.
