description

LTC^®The 3206 is a highly integrated multi-display LED controller. The device includes a high-efficiency, low-noise fractional boost/direct-connect charge pump to power primary and secondary white LED displays and an RGB color LED display. The LTC3206 requires only four small ceramic capacitors and two resistors to form a complete triple LED power and current controller.

The maximum current for the primary/secondary displays as well as the RGB display is set individually. The current of each LED is controlled by an internal current source. Dimming and ON/OFF control of all displays is done via a two-wire serial interface. Two auxiliary LED pins can be assigned separately to the primary or secondary display. Both the primary and secondary displays have 16 independent dimming states. Each red, green, and blue LED has 16 dimming states, enabling up to 4096 color combinations.

The LTC3206's charge pump can be based on V_INand LED forward voltage conditions to optimize efficiency. The device powers up in direct connect mode and automatically transitions to 1.5x boost mode as soon as any enabled LED current source begins to enter a dropout state. Internal circuitry prevents inrush current and excessive input noise during start-up and mode transitions. The LTC3206 is available in a 24-lead (4mm×4mm) QFN package.
