description

The LTC®3216 is a low-noise, high-current charge pump DC/DC converter designed for powering high-current LEDs. The device includes an accurate settable current source capable of driving loads up to 1A from a single 2.9V to 4.4V input. The low number of external components (two jumper capacitors, two programmed resistors, and two bypass capacitors on the VIN and CPO pins) makes the LTC3216 ideal for small, battery-powered applications. The built-in soft-start circuit prevents excessive inrush current during start-up. The high switching frequency allows for the use of small external capacitors. Independent high and low current setpoints are set by two external resistors. The shutdown mode and current output level are selected via two logic inputs. An ultra-low dropout current source maintains accurate LED current at very low ILED voltages. The automatic mode switching feature optimizes efficiency by monitoring the voltage across the LED current source and switching modes only when an ILED dropout is detected. LTC3216 is available in a small 3mm x 4mm 12-pin DFN package
