description

LTC^®The 3217 is a low noise charge pump DC/DC converter designed to power four high current LEDs. The LTC3217 requires only four small ceramic capacitors and two current setting resistors to form a complete LED supply and current controller.

Internal soft-start circuitry prevents oversize during start-up and mode changeswaveChungCurrent. The high switching frequency allows the use of small external capacitors. Independent high and low current setpoints are set by two external resistors. The shutdown mode and current output level are selected through two logic inputs.

The current flowing through the LED passes through I_SET1and I_SET2pin to set. In addition, the brightness can be controlled by pulse width modulation at the EN2 pin.

The charge pump optimizes efficiency based on the voltage across the LED current source. The device powers up in 1x mode and is enabled when eitherLEDThe current source automatically switches to boost mode when it begins to enter a dropout state. The first voltage drop will convert the device to 1.5x mode, and subsequent voltage drops will switch the device to 2x mode. When the device is powered down, the LTC3217 is reset to 1x mode.

The LTC3217 is available in a low profile 16-lead (3mm × 3mm × 0.75mm) QFN package.
