description

The LTC®3230 is a low-noise charge pump DC/DC converter designed to drive 4 primary LEDs and 1 secondary LED and two 200mA linear regulators to provide more system power. LTC3230 charging pump requires only 4 small ceramic capacitors and 1 current-setting resistor to form a complete LED power supply and current controller.

The built-in soft-start circuit prevents excessive inrush current during start-up and mode changeover. The high switching frequency allows for the use of small external capacitors. The main and secondary displays are set by a single external resistor for the full scale current setting.

Optimize the efficiency of the charging pump based on the voltage across the LED current source. The device is powered on in 1x mode and automatically switches to the next boost mode (1.5x mode first, then 2x mode) when either LED current source is nearing a voltage drop state.

Two 200mA linear regulators have independent enable and output voltage selection pins. Each regulator can be set to one of three pre-selected output voltages via the three-level input pin. These two voltage regulators can be enabled without being affected by the charging pump.

LTC3230 is available in a low profile (0.75mm high), 3mm x 3mm 20-pin QFN package.
