description

The LTC®4054L is a complete constant current/constant voltage linear charger for single-cell lithium-ion batteries. Its compact form factor and ability to adjust low charging current make the LTC4054L particularly suitable for portable applications with low-capacity rechargeable coin-shaped lithium-ion batteries. And, LTC4054L is specifically designed to work within USB power specifications.

Due to the internal MOSFET architecture, there is no need for external detection resistors and isolation diodes. Thermal feedback regulates the charge current to avoid ultra-safety standard thermal designs. The charging voltage is fixed at 4.2V, while the charging current can be set externally via a single resistor. When the charge current drops to 1/10 of the programmed value after reaching the final float charge voltage, LTC4054L will automatically terminate the charge cycle.

When the input voltage (AC adapter or USB power supply) is removed, the LTC4054L automatically enters a low-current state and reduces the battery leakage current to less than 2μA. The LTC4054L can be placed in shutdown mode to reduce the supply current to 25μA.

Other features of the LTC4054L include a charge current monitor, undervoltage latching, automatic recharging, and a status pin to indicate charge termination and input voltage access.
