description

The LTC ® 490 is a low power differential bus/line transceiver designed for point-to-multipoint data transmission with extended common-mode range (-7V to 12V) standard RS485 applications. It also meets the requirements of RS-422.

The CMOS design provides a significant reduction in power consumption over its bipolar counterpart without sacrificing robustness to overload or ESD damage.

Excessive power dissipation due to bus contention or faults prevents thermal shutdown circuitry from forcing the driver output into a high impedance state. The receiver has a fail-safe feature that guarantees a high output state when the input is floating.

AC and DC specifications are guaranteed from 0°C to 70°C and 4.75V to 5.25V supply voltage ranges.
