description
The LTC ® 491 is a low power differential bus/line transceiver designed for point-to-multipoint data transmission and extended common-mode range (-7V to 12V) standard RS485 applications. It also meets the requirements of RS-422.
The CMOS design provides a significant reduction in power consumption over its bipolar counterpart without sacrificing robustness to overload or ESD damage.
Driver and receiver tri-state output driver with high impedance over the entire common-mode range. Excessive power dissipation due to bus contention or faults prevents thermal shutdown circuitry from forcing the driver output into a high impedance state.
The receiver has a fail-safe feature that guarantees a high output state when the input is floating.
AC and DC specifications are guaranteed from 0°C to 70°C and 4.75V to 5.25V supply voltage ranges.
