  • description

    LTC®The 6802-1 is a complete battery monitoring IC that includes a 12-bit ADC, a precision voltage reference, a high voltage input multiplexer, and a serial interface. Each LTC6802-1 is capable of measuring up to 12 series connected cells with input common-mode voltages up to 60V. Also, multiple LTC6802-1 devices can be connected in series to monitor the voltage of each cell in a long string of series connected cells. Furthermore, by using a unique level-shifting serial interface, multiple devices can be daisy-chained without the need for optocouplers or optoisolators.

    When multiple LTC6802-1 devices are connected in series, they can operate simultaneously, allowing voltage measurements for all cells in the stack to be completed in less than 13ms.

    To minimize power, the LTC6802-1 provides a measurement mode designed to simply monitor each cell for overvoltage and undervoltage conditions. A standby mode is also available.

    Each battery input has an associated MOSFET switch that discharges the overcharged battery.
